La moneta del XXI secolo

Un passaggio del discorso pronunciato ieri da Obama al Cairo.

"But all of us must recognize that education and innovation will be the currency of the 21st century...   And while America in the past has focused on oil and gas in this part of the world, we now seek a broader engagement.  On education, we will expand exchange programs, and increase scholarships, like the one that brought my father to America, while encouraging more Americans to study in Muslim communities. And we will match promising Muslim students with internships in America; invest in on-line learning for teachers and children around the world; and create a new online network, so a teenager in Kansas can communicate instantly with a teenager in Cairo."

"Dobbiamo tutti riconoscere che l'istruzione e l'innovazione saranno la moneta del XXI secolo (...). In passato gli Stati Uniti d'America, nei loro rapporti con molte comunità islamiche, hanno puntato su petrolio e gas, ma ora cercheremo forme di intervento di più ampio respiro. Aumenteremo i nostri programmi di scambio e le borse di studio, come quella che portò mio padre in America, e nello stesso tempo incoraggeremo un maggior numero di giovani americani a studiare nelle comunità islamiche. Investiremo su vasti programmi di e-learning per docenti e studenti in tutto il mondo, in modo da creare una nuova rete online che consenta a un ragazzo del Kansas di comunicare in tempo reale con un suo coetaneo del Cairo".
